Love your work! Don’t just focus on making money.❤️
In my journey of product development, I’ve received invaluable advice, and one gem stands out: ‘Be obsessed with differentiation, quality, and customer value. Don’t be competitor or money obsessed.’
Putting this advice into action, I’ve tried to adopt some simple strategies (copied from Jeff Bezos) in my quest to build great products:
1️⃣ Narrow your focus, but up your intensity: By concentrating on a specific niche or problem, you can channel your energy more effectively into delivering exceptional solutions.
2️⃣ Start with the customer and then work backwards: Understanding the needs and desires of your customers is paramount. Build your product with them in mind, ensuring it addresses their pain points and delivers real value.
3️⃣ Let everyone you hire increase the quality of the team: Surround yourself with talented individuals who not only excel in their own right but also elevate the collective skill and expertise of the team.
Reflecting on the success of companies like Apple under the leadership of visionaries like Steve Jobs and Jony Ive, we see that their products stood out not only for their functionality but also for the care and passion poured into every detail. It’s clear that they loved what they were building, and this love translated into products that captured the hearts of customers worldwide.
So, remember, don’t just chase after customers — attract them by infusing thought and love into the details of what you’re building. When you love your work, it shows, and others can’t help but be drawn to it. ❤️
